Eugene Bullard was the first black combat pilot in history. Despite being an American, he did it in WW1 with the French Air Force. He received all three of the top French military honors.
A partial list of the jobs Bullard had included, longshoreman, jockey, boxer, gym owner, boxing instructor, nightclub owner, soldier, pilot, elevator operator.
I highly recommend all of the Fat Electrician's videos. He is quite the story teller.
