Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has said one of its flights had to make an emergency landing after a mouse scurried out of a passenger's in-flight meal on Wednesday.
The aircraft was flying from Norway's capital Oslo to Malaga in Spain and was forced to make an emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The diversion was in line with company procedures as the furry stowaway posed a safety risk, airline spokesperson Oystein Schmidt told the AFP news agency.
Passengers on the flight were later flown to Malaga on a different aircraft.
Airlines usually have strict restrictions involving rodents on board planes in order to prevent electrical wiring being chewed through.
"This is something that happens extremely rarely," Mr Schmidt said.
"We have established procedures for such situations, which also include a review with our suppliers to ensure this does not happen again." .

This piece-of-s..t airline left thousands of its passengers totally abandoned during the summer of 2023, without any financial compensation, and is now desperately trying to get their business back by offering prices below market. Hope the mice-in-the-meal incident(s) will turn most of the passengers off those bastards.
Lol- food on the run
“”””An extra landing and takeoff is more of a risk.””””
That is a good point you brought to our attention, turning back should not be the automatic reaction to everything on a plane, which most of us already thought, but a lot of us missed the safety aspect.
I was thinking this also. But then I figured one mouse can chew one wire, hose or cable that can send a plane to its doom.
And when there’s one mouse, there’s more.
“For today’s meal, we’ll be serving fresh RATatouille.”
First thing that came to my mind too.. Fawlty Towers is being remade on an airplane!
“Stewardess, I requested the vegetarian meal.”
Snakes gotta eat, too.
This is one of those stories where I say: THANK GOODNESS that wasn’t me!
My guess is that they might be worried that the little furry might have eaten through some wires.
I would have continued, especially if there were no other indications.
I’m curious to see if they actually have this specific situation in their procedures or did the captain just say it was a safety issue.
"Greatness awaits as we're off to pillage England!"
"Hold tight fellow Norse. This storm will not stop our quest!"
"Despite the crudest tools we navigated our way."
"All was well until we faced a fearsome monster!"
"That we escaped with our lives to tell the tale...whew."
Sorry all, just reread the post-disregard. More coffee!!!
Nicely done.
Lol… Mickey!!!
Is that from steamboat Willy?
Exactly!
