I don’t disagree, but in this case, there was clearly an “articulable“ reason for illegality, as he drove by them at high speed.

I had this discussion with someone the other day about police, that as I progressed through life, I went through stages.

The first stage was as a child, and I looked up to the police.

The second stage was when I was an adolescent and young adult, and I viewed the police as an enemy which should be avoided at all costs.

The third stage was when I realized that the vast majority of them were just regular people doing jobs, and simply desired to do their job, collect their paycheck, and go home at night. In other words, they weren’t an enemy out to get me.

We all know from experience that there are police, due to being on a power trip, are indeed out to get people. But that isn’t the majority.

It has been my observation that leftists of all stripes are stuck in a perpetual adolescent stage.

Get yourself a car cockpit cover. I've used one forever and the interior is only as hot as the ambient temperature.

That would wind up in somebody's shopping cart and used as a tent on Washington Street.

Tyreek not rolling down his window was foolish as it gave the police a reason to make him exit his vehicle. Nothing he did warranted being dragged out of his vehicle, pushed to the ground and cuffed. This really is an example of two scumbags colliding but the cop is the greater evil. In the grand scheme of things I can ignore a famous a-hole but I have no protection against a thuggish agent of the state.

I didn’t watch the video but I will take some exception to your comments.

That was your first problem. Had you watched the video you would have seen that right from the beginning, Hill behaving like a ghetto thug. Perhaps before commenting further, you should at least arm yourself with true knowledge of what happened so you're not writing from a position of ignorance.

Hill was speeding (going almost twice as fast as surrounding traffic) with the driver's window down. When approached, he rolled his window up. When the cop knocked on the window to tell him to roll it down, Hill's response was to roll the window down, chide the cop for knocking on the glass, then roll right back up.

The cop knocked again, and Hill cracked the window open and again, chided the cop for knocking on the glass. He then, rolled the window right back up. When told to roll the window down and keep it down, Hill can be heard to say through the glass, "F**K YOU!"

Under the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, you have an absolute right to be secure in your person, property and papers. That means that absent suspicion of an articulable crime, a cop cannot just approach you and demand proof of identity or ask what you are doing or where you are going.

Speeding is an articulable crime, as is window tint that's too dark. Thus, the police had every right to pull Hill over, approach him, demand ID, and even ask him to step out of the car because Hill was being completely uncooperative. When asked to, "Please step out of the car" Hill twice ignored the request. Another cop stepped up, opened the door and dragged Hill out of the car and was taken to the ground and cuffed. Hill was stood up, led to the curb and ordered to sit down. When he didn't comply, he was forced to sit, complaining that he just had knee surgery. Funny how the knee surgery was a reason not to sit, but not to keep from playing in the football game later that day.

After Hill was forced to sit, a few of his fellow players attempted to approach the scene and when ordered get back, they started arguing with the officers and ignoring the lawful orders.

Many police get on their power trip I MUST BE OBEYED. No. They MUST be directly disobeyed if they are abridging your Constitutional rights.

When given a lawful order, which was what was done to Hill, you are obligated to obey. If you have any dispute, you comply and take the case before the judge.

Again, had you watched the video, you would have seen that Hill was in the wrong and the police were in the right.

I would imagine your encounter with the police would have gone differently had you behaved in a manner similar to Hill.

FWIW, here's the entire encounter from the first officer's body cam. See: Body camera footage released, Tyreek Hill detained by Miami police ahead of game

He was asked several times to step out of the car and he ignored the requests. Had he kept the window down and provided license, registration and insurance, he would not have been asked to get out of the car. He would have simply gotten a ticket and been on his way.

I've been pulled over plenty of times, more than I can count. I've always been polite and cooperative, so I've never been asked to get out of the car. That only happens when you're uncooperative, like Hill.

My reply as a generality and had nothing to do with the particular incident.

I was saying that police have a duty to bear strict adherence to the Constitution and have no right to make any demands of us with articulating the crime we supposedly committed.

We as Americans conversely are under no duty to capitulate to unconstitutional orders.

You can beat the rap, but you're not going to beat the ride.

So that’s an excuse to allow tyrants to destroy your constitutional rights?

Wherein did I excuse anything?

Fear of taking a ride is excusing tyranny

Let me clarify. Reflexively providing identification when you did nothing wrong and the cop can’t articulate a reason for fear of taking a ride is excusing tyranny

You haven't watched the video. You're spouting all kinds of generalities and you're putting words in my mouth that I never said.

For these reasons, I'm done with you.

FRegards,
