In this video we read from "Life Among the Piutes: Their Wrongs and Their Claims," by Sarah Winnemucca Hopkins, published all the way back in 1883. This tells of the Pyramid Lake War that broke out in 1860 between the Piutes and the white settlers near Genoa, Nevada. It also tells the Piute legend of the red-haired cannibalistic people whom the Piutes exterminated several hundred years before this book was written.

The Mound People who inhabited areas along and thence into the interior, of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, were giants.
In Ohio, digging into the mounds was prohibited, back in the early 19th century, because the findings would upset the new locals.
Many of the Mound People were “rubbed out” by various “Indian” tribes that entered the [eventual U.S.A.] territory from the far northwest and the northeast.
A lot of the old guys were “rubbed out” by the new guys, though the modern “enlightened” historians who would have everybody believe that the Sioux and Cherokee were administrators of some Great Environmental Protection Agency.

The romanticization of native americans and erasure of their true history utterly sickens me. I remember as a kid reading collected letters from early settlers for a paper I was writing. The things they did were absolutely horrific, far worse than mere cannibalism. Cutting children from the bellies of pregnant women, raping and murdering the children, then mutilating, raping and murdering the mother, all in front of the father, then mutilating him and torturing him for days to die. The Puritans accepted this without qualm, and met their fate, convinced it was God’s will that they be martyred for the cause of trying to convert the savages. Now Hollywood and the media have sold the injuns as peace loving nature children, victims of their oppressors. Spit!

There are reports of French traders visiting Indians and being offered part of a human body to eat.
There was a movie quite a while ago (40 years plus) called How Tasty was My Little Frenchman about a Frenchman who was shipwrecked on the coast of Brazil in the 1500s, taken in by a local tribe for a year and treated nicely, before they killed him and ate him. Apparently based on a real event.
