Former President Donald Trump missed 12 putts while playing a round of golf alongside Bryson DeChambeau.
The 2024 Republican nominee for president appeared on the professional golfer's popular "Break 50" series, where they raised money for charity.
Trump, 78, and DeChambeau, 30, played a two-person scramble, a common golf game in which "each player plays from the teeing area on each hole, one of the tee shots is selected and all the players play their second shots from within one club length of that location, no closer to the hole, and in the same height of grass in the general area. Play continues in this manner until the ball is holed," according to Golf Genius.
Despite Trump's misses, the pair played well together and finished 22 under par.
After Trump sunk the last shot, DeChambeau threw his arms in the air in excitement. "Let's go!" he said, "That's how we do it. That's how you finish off the round. We shot 22 under, oh my gosh."
The clip was posted to YouTube on July 23 and has amassed more than four million views and counting at the time of publication.

Missed 12 puts. That means he made 18. So…30 puts per round. If he is hitting the green in regulation, that is an amazing round.

By almost all objective accounts, the guy is a very good golfer. I hate his swing…but I don’t have his handicap. I imagine if I did, I would swing any way i wanted. LOL

Soooooooo. In addition, I read in another article, DeChambeau praised Trumps golf game, “he can play some golf”.

Even a pro golfer would normally miss about that many putts, their average score is 3 to 5 under par, if you sank every putt in a round you would probably score 12 to 15 under (as occasionally happens, Jim Furyk shot 58 once). So it’s not really significant. Also, it was a scramble format, probably Bryson deChambeau sank some of them after seeing the line from partner’s efforts.

I watched the match last night. Trump hit every fairway, hit most greens on the approach shots, and rolled good lag putts. All for charity.

It’s Newsweak - my guess is they use the athletic ability of one of their favored foreign leaders as their standard for the performance of someone like Trump.

If you have 100% GIR, which is amazing, you would miss 18 putts per round and still hit par. Which pretty much would put you on the pro tour.
He made an eagle-2 on his own ball on one hole, and a birdie on his own ball on another.
