You and me, brother! I got to go back to the real Florida (“old Florida” as I call it) a month ago. I missed seeing those dirt roads and there was very little of what they call “progress” these days. It’s still there if you look for it. I looked and I guess I had an idea of where to look. Not far from your old haunts. I know you miss that, too. There’s something special about those parts of Florida that tourists don’t often see. Home. It’s a beautiful place.

True, and 45 years there at the farm south of Gainesville, midstate near everything not Miami/Disney. The line in American Girl, “she could hear the cars go by out on 441, like waves crashing on the beach” is my back porch.

Feels like I’m still visiting in western Colorado.
