John Fogerty.

From San Francisco Bay Area.

Nice try at pretending to be American.

“Pretending to be an American”? What are you talking about? I like the way you Joe Biden like keep your ramblings on the subject. Fogerty sold more records about the bayou than anyone.

I've listened to them for years, but never knew he was born in California until you said so. I guess I'm not an American? No, it only means that I never inquired to learn where he came from. Because that was unimportant to me. His music was the only consideration I cared about regarding him.

But something or someone from the Southern music influenced him heavily

Genres:
Roots Rock, Rock & Roll, Country Rock, Heartland Rock, Blues Rock, Swamp Rock, Americana, Southern Rock.

I would venture to guess that he got inspiration from Elvis Presley, Bill Haley & The Comets, Buddy Holly & The Crickets, Dale Hawkins, Tony Joe White, Belton Richard, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Slim Harpo, Lightnin’ Slim & others from that era.

Their original genre was labeled as Swamp Rock, which was an offshoot of Swamp Blues. Both of those genres were started in, wait for it, Louisiana, or as natives affectionately call her Lousyanna.

So, hardspunned has justification for what he said, and probably said more in jest than anything else.
