“Headline is a lie. They aren’t making butter. At best, they’re making margarine.”

Butter is the fatty carbohydrate with animal protein (in low amounts, though) made from animal milk, plus any other additives (salt, coloring, etc.). If only Carbon Dioxide and Water are used, only the fatty carbohydrate can be made; they will have to add protein in some fashion, in order for it to be butter. Without that, it will be edible stripped down butter. Margarine is edible animal or vegetable fats or oils mixed with water and animal milk products and other added ingredients, to make a spreadable product. So, the product they’ll be making is closer to true butter than margarine.
