I worked in government. With exceptions, the "good guys" who are on the inside when an agency breaks bad are mostly trying to hide and hope they are not noticed, do not get personally compromised, and do not get punished for not being on the team.

When the dust clears, they might pop their heads up though like a prairie dog from a burrow and and say, "I was not involved because I was one of the good guys."

Are they good guys? Usually they are, as people. As to honesty in government, I am reminded of Revelations 3:16. "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth."

I think the talking heads just figure everyone can’t be evil, so there must be some good guys in there.

But must there? Sure, if the positions are being filled traditionally.

But what if positions and judgeships are not being filled traditionally? What if the “right” types are being chosen instead? Somehow.
