Still, I have no clue at all why some people seem to enjoy to inflict suffering and pain on others, as our power elites do. Furthermore, on people who have never wronged them personally.
I think they are just like that. It’s a fallen world.
People who want power are willing to do whatever it takes to acquire and retain it.
There are multiple instances in the Old Testament of people seizing the Throne, killing the King and killing his entire family.
My reading today was 1 Kings 19-22. Includes Ahab’s death, and the prophecy of the destruction of his entire family, which came to pass.
In societies ruled by Monarchs and Aristocrats, they kill each other in the struggle for power, and the common people are spectators, and mostly not effected.
But in mass societies where, supposedly, the People rule, different groups of people can be an instrument of power, or an obstacle to power, and thus all of us can get dragged into what were formerly violent aristocratic struggles.
Popular Sovereignty can mean mass death, at worst. I guess we should be grateful that for now it only means mass replacement.
