RE: So what? The thug league ambles on.
But This particular Celtics team are mostly a decent bunch of players who aren’t thugs at all.
Head Coach Joe Mazzulla is an openly devout Catholic He has spoken about his faith on a few occasions.
Defensive specialist Jrue Holiday is a devout Christian. He has spoken publicly about his faith on several occasion crediting his faith in Christ with helping him through difficult times.
Center Al Horford has spoken openly about his Christian faith in several interviews. Horford has said his “purpose in life is to please God” and that his faith in Jesus Christ is what he lives for.
Leading scorer Jason Tatum is a devout Christian. His Instagram bio includes the phrase “In the name of Jesus I play”. Tatum has said he believes his talent and achievements come from God’s blessings
And get this, Jalen Brown is known for being a very versatile person who excels in both academics and sports.
Here’s why:
Academics: Brown graduated at the top of his high school class and even took a masters-level course during his freshman year at the University of California, Berkeley.
Languages: He’s fluent in Spanish and has expressed a desire to learn more languages.
Other interests: Brown is an avid chess player and knows how to play multiple instruments, showcasing his well-rounded skillset. He even has a fellowship at MIT’s Media Lab and was offered an internship with NASA.
Public Speaking: Brown delivered a lecture at Harvard titled “One and One with Jaylen Brown: Athlete and Intellectual. He is a great example of someone who has cultivated success in both academics and sports.
Power forward Kristap Porzingis speaks 4 languages fluently: His native Latvian, Russian, English and Spanish.
Point Guard Payton Pritchard listed “God, family, basketball” as his motto and participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) activities in high school.
This is a championship team to emulate and celebrate, not denigrate.
Amen.
They seemed very different than a lot of other teams. Yes, it’s basketball and there is a predominate culture there. But when you grow up a Celtics fan, it really goes beyond that crap.
Happy for Horford, now has an NBA title to go along with his two NCAA titles with the Gators.
This is a championship team to emulate and celebrate, not denigrate.
☘️☘️🥰🥳AMEN, SeekAndFind!!!!!!!!!!
When some leftist reporter asked Mazzulla about being a black head coach in the finals, he didn’t take the bait and instead asked the reporter how come now one asks him about being a Christian head coach in the finals.
A lot of that Jaylen Brown stuff is BS. He came to Boston claiming talents and achievements beyond basketball he didn’t really have at any level to speak of.
But he’s physically gifted, he has kept working hard, and he has overcome his years of low-IQ play to finally minimize the boneheaded plays and better see the court.
He’s also, of course, a very wealthy young man.
Indeed.
Thank you for this post.
