Before beginning, it is useful to note that my screen is the IDC-10 code for “unvaccinated for covid”.
On Friday, I had to go the the nearby urgent care to resolve a ten day long fever and heavy cough, which rest, fluids, zinc and vitamin C were not making any better. I figured they’d give me a z-pack.
After taking my vitals and waiting in the exam room, the doctor came in and asked me about the various details. After giving her the recent ten day history, her VERY FIRST question was; “Have you had a Tetanus shot?”
I thought this very odd. Tetanus...for...a cough?
I replied; “yes, I had one four years ago” (in hindsight, it was actually 5 years)
She said; “oh, so in 2000”
I replied; “no that would’ve been in 2020” (actually 2019)
I’m thinking WHAT THE??... Tetanus is a ten year shot. Did she get the math wrong to have an excuse to prescribe that shot? I’ve never heard of giving a Tetanus shot for a cold and cough. Ever. What’s going on here?
The exam required a chest x-ray to ensure pneumonia wasn’t in play. It turns out that it is bronchitis, for which I got an Rx for antibiotics, a decongestant and an inhaler. It’s been nearly three days of the meds and am feeling better, but not yet 100%.
Here’s the wacky part.
It bugged me about that tetanus conversation. That shot is usually given for broken skin contusions, punctures, lacerations and such, not for a cough.
Then it all might have become more clear...

Ya gotta be cautious pure-bloods.
Or electronic medical records will tell the doctor if you’ve had the jab, or not, and I suspect they’d love the revenue from foisting one upon you, even in a stealth manner.

On my medical records, it would mean I was unvaccinated for Covid?
