If every town/city said NO, we’d still have major league sports, the owners just wouldn’t be worth as much, and they would probably worry a lot less about virtue-signalling and wokeness
Yeah, except some team owners use this as blackmail. “Get us a new stadium, or we move to another city/state.” Amazing how often that works.
Worked well for Oakland.
The fans are better off with a smallish stadium, with plenty of restrooms and no screens to watch commercials and the game. I liked it best in a 4,000 seat Depression era ballfield with covered stands. Good food, good baseball, low prices.
Fans do not need multi million or billion dollar venues to enjoy the game. The OWNERS need it, and the players want it because they get too much money.
