The political spectrum is a circle, so far-right, and far-left are right next to each other.

It seems that way, because the Communists always defined opposition to THEIR flavor of socialism as “fascist”

Reality was that Mussolini’s fascism, the National Socialist German Workers Party(Nazi) and Stalinism were all just flavors of Statism, the idea that individuals are property of the State.

The actual opposite of that is Jefferson’s vision in the Declaration of Independence, where governments exist only to provide a safe environment for individuals to pursue their own goals.

I prefer the founders definition of the political spectrum as linear. Far left is absolute government control or totalitarianism and the far right is no government control or anarchy. Anarchy inevitably leads to some type of oppressive rule so a circular definition seems appropriate. However, I think it’s overly complicated.
