When conservatives desperately needed allies in the fight against big government, Donald Trump didn’t stand on the sidelines. He consistently advocated that your money be spent, that your government grow, and that your Constitution be ignored.

Mark Levin.
This article came out in February of that election year. It is now April of this election year. Patiently waiting.
These ‘critics’ are not spring chickens. All are well into adulthood and couldn’t see the alternative. Perhaps February was early enough to get us all behind one of the other 16 losers.
Dana Loesch NEVER TRUMPER
NEVER DANA
Not sure if you are trying to make the point or not with your abreviated post, so I will say it. Mark Levin came on board seven and one-half years ago.
Trump is a moderate
It’s just that most of the Republican Party are NeoCons which means they are warmed over Trotskyites.
On the other hand...
In Feb 2016, Trump was the only Republican who could win a national election.
In Feb 2020, Trump was the only Republican who could win a national election.
In Feb 2024, Trump was the only Republican who could win a national election.
The world has changed a lot in eight years. Some of those authors are rightly chastened, others are stubborn NeverTrump losers who have no credibility anymore, and National Review may as well be out of business.
Levin was strongly against Trump at the beginning of Trump’s campaign. Eventually when it became certain that Trump would be the nominee, Levin came a board the Trump train.
The important thing is that most of them now support Trump. It does not matter how they felt in the past; what’s important is now. Most have repented, as it were, and are actively supporting him.
He also praised and promoted Liz Cheney then called bloggers like me names who exposed the truth about her.
I hope he’s finally wised up.
He’s a lawyer, so not sure if that’s even possible.....
My view is some of the criticism was right and some was wrong.
What was right was that Trump is not, was not, and will not be a fiscal conservative, nor will he be a principled small government Conservative either, choosing big government solutions he sees fit for some purpose, ignoring that federal powers once gained are never discarded, no matter who later comes to office.
Personality - yes, they were right, Trump is an egomaniac as the many mulitple fund raising Emails that I get every day attest - they are 100% all about Trump, personally, not the issues.
Is he still head over heels better than Biden or any other Democrat? Yes. 100%.
*Most have repented, as it were, and are actively supporting him.*
True. National Review hasn’t.
Levin seriously damaged his credibility during that primary campaign when he supported Ted Cruz. I can respect anyone who supports a political candidate for one reason or another, but in his case he had a family member (maybe a stepson?) working for the Cruz campaign and he never disclosed that during any of his on-air ranting.
Trump won the 2016 GOP primary for one reason. It’s because tens of millions of Republican voters finally realized that all the “fiscally conservative, small-government” Republican candidates who had been peddled on the political scene by the likes of those losers at National Review turned out to be lying, feckless @ssholes.
Levin came on board around September 9th, 2016.
Notice though that Levin still didn't understand Trump's point of view about Putin.
Do have a time frame for that? Thanks.
If I remember correctly, Michael Savage was one of the few radio/internet/print personalities supporting President Trump from the very beginning. Maybe Alex Jones too.
The rest of the blowhards — Levin included — stuck their collective fingers in the wind to find out if it was indeed blowing in Trump’s direction, and then they supported him.
Probably to keep their audiences. The whole bunch of them are moneygrubbers.
*To be fair, that NR edition was published during the 2016 primary season when even many of us here on this website weren’t sold on Trump, either.*
Kinda reminds me of Reagan in ‘76. Ford was the establishment candidate-more of the same. Reagan, like Trump turned out pretty good.
The future calls for a successful big state governor to run and drag the weak ones along. Points to DeSantis in ‘28. Vivek can prove he’s the real deal as Ohio’s governor in ‘’26. Won’t do it-my opinion.
Governors-the left has them. They’re just no good. Might not matter.
