The Spike Protein describes the entire structure of the protein formation. It’s structure is uniquely constructed to attach to the ACE2 “receptor” on the host cell; like a key being inserted into a lock. At that site, the virus is able to penetrate host cells and initiate infection. How well that Spike Protein is able to link up to the ACE2 “receptor” determines how contagious the virus. Those who are designing a virus for weaponization, will genetically design the Spike Protein for maximum efficiency.

Not necessarily.

If it fits too perfectly the first time in humans, that’s a dead giveaway it was engineered.
