Many people believe this to be a myth. But entering into the winter months in 1914, everyone thought that World War I would be over in time for the holiday season. The soldiers were weary of war and homesick. Families were split apart.
Then, during the month of December, when the soldiers realized they would not be home with their families for Christmas, a miraculous event happened. Singing could be heard coming across the killing fields, known as No Man's Land, from both sides of the war.
That evening of Christmas Eve brings a still calm over the battlefield. Despite heavy losses during the daylight hours, the mood changes. Common soldiers started meeting enemy soldiers on that forbidden land in the spirit of Christmas and Thanksgiving.
They exchanged goods, food, and spirits. They made friends.
Field commanders allowed this to continue until commanding officers and politicians forced them to stop and resume fighting under the threat of disciplinary action.
In some places, this event passed by unnoticed. In others, it ended up being a life changing event.
So as we enter the holiday season, I want to wish you and yours a very merry holiday season, a happy Thanksgiving, and a merry Christmas. May your season be filled with a true spirit of compassion and fellowship.

A Sign Of Friendship In The Midst Of War I THE CHRISTMAS TRUCE 1914
Initially, everyone believed that this war would be over by Christmas, but on Christmas Eve 1914, soldiers were still facing each other in France, Belgium, throughout Eastern Europe, and all of the other theatres of war. But instead of shooting at each other, quite a few soldiers decided to sing and celebrate this night with their enemies. This happened in many places on the Western Front, and the commanding officers were not happy about it. In future, they would see to it that it did not happen again.
I hope everyone who was responsible for starting that stupid war are roasting in Hell. There were no good guys in that war.
If there was ever an unnecessary and avoidable war, that was it.
“If there was ever an unnecessary and avoidable war, that was it.”
350,000 dead Russians might disagree.
The Alliance between France and Russia was the main reason the war spread.
Casualties now, or even more casualties in the future to repel the next invasion by the next Hitler, or the next Napoleon, or the next Frederick the Great, or the next Charles XII.
Yes.
I’m just happy to NOT be reading about one in gaza.
If only...
You are the fount of all knowledge! wow, thanks.

Merry Christmas!
The Royal Families of most of the key players were related to each other.
Eventually some were executed.
The rest should have been.
The problem in the modern age is that the large banks and large corporations fund both sides.
