Unfortunately, this story is just that. A story. This is propaganda.
I dunno. Stupid, brutal, knuckle dragging Russians forcing their own to walk into a fiery, hellish death. Sounds legit to me - it’s what they do best.
And you know that how?
No, there are reliable reports to the effect that Ukraine is achieving “artillery dominance” in key sectors. Russia is said to now be suffering heavy casualties among artillery and infantry and relying on heavy minefields to hinder Ukrainian advances. This is consistent with traditional Russian military practice, which assumes that victory can be achieved through brute force, indifference to casualties, and heavy conscription.
Facts do not magically become "propaganda" just because they don't always agree with your own favorite narrative.
Even opinions are not necessarily "propaganda" if they are properly identified as opinions and not just opinions masquerading as "facts".
But, ultimately, the word "propaganda" means something both misleading and malicious and those words describe everything we see from Russian outlets, based on their Old Soviet agit-prop models.
Ukrainian information is in the western mode, meaning fact based with opinions identified as such.
Which is not to claim Ukrainians are perfect -- is the US media perfect? -- but they are manifestly levels above the Old Soviet KGB agit-prop we see from the Kremlin.
All that in my humble opinion, of course.
