When you’re cooking the garlic and anchovies in olive oil, and before you add the water to break the anchovies up, don’t be afraid to add a bit of crushed red pepper if you have it. 1/2 tsp, or 1 full tsp if you’re feeling brave. It adds a bit of spice to the mix.
