Sunday was one of the worst-officiated days in recent NFL history.
While everyone makes mistakes, and officials are no different, there were multiple high-level mistakes made by the league's officiating crews on Sunday.
Three calls stood out.
In the Browns at Colts game, a brutal "pass interference" penalty on an uncatchable pass helped give Cleveland the win.
In the Rams vs. Steelers game, a questionable spotting of the ball helped give Pittsburgh the win.
And in the Eagles vs. Dolphins game, a blatant missed facemask penalty was uncalled.
How do you miss this?

However, bad officiating has been around for ever, I remember a blatant missed interference call on the last play in the playoffs (I think the losing team was the Giants), the winning coach just said "Bummer"
But there is something that has changed, a lot of refs have longer hair. Sure that has nothing to do with the issues.
Affirmative-action officials?
The NFL had the best refs in any major sport, and it wasn't close. Roger Goodell has deliberately, systematically ruined them.
In the last two weeks, refs seemingly deliberately made false calls to change the winner of the game. The refs should be voted NFL MVP for 2023.
It’s because of legalized gambling. Obviously.
Controversy creates interest, and there is no bad publicity in entertainment.
That’s why the NFL created the whole Kelce-Taylor Swift thing.
Pulls in the chicks.
John Madden said the refs confirmed the Immaculate Reception because they wanted to get out of Pittsburgh alive.
Last Week - last play Giants vs Bills. Blatantly obvious hold of Giants receiver in endzone where jersey is pulled down impeding play from catching ball. Collingsworth said earlier during the broadcast if you are caught pulling on the jersey it is an automatic defensive holding. I guess no on that play.
Black Sox Scandal.
I don’t think that’s comparable. Watch the play. The refs probably didn’t even know what happened. You can’t even tell on the replay.
The problem is the ever-increasing complexity and rules of the game
NFL is just like our government - they think the fix to every perceived problem is a new law, play or set of rules.
Thus society becomes legalist and courts become clogged toilets of bureaucracy and politics.
NFL refs have to translate that vast rulebook into split-second decisions, and that’s why they now have to huddle after every penalty and have a 2 minute conference
The NFL doesn’t mind because they can sell that time for commercials
I’ve been saying this for years.
~~~
It really has.
Who decides to cry about it just depends on who suffered the bad calls that week. They happen a LOT
We gonna blame it on the girls?
might as well not worry....the nfl knows who they want on top and since its an entertainment industry, they apparently have that right.
not this chick...
Hollywood's been doing that forever! Create an attractive couple...they don't even have to like one another.
NFL games are rigged.
It’s good that the games are rigged if you’re a gambler.
