David McCallum Dies: Beloved ‘NCIS’ Actor Was 90

NCIS veteran David McCallum, also known for his Emmy-nominated role in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., died peacefully this morning of natural causes at New York Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by family. He was 90, having celebrated his birthday less than a week ago.
A fan favorite, McCallum was the last remaining original cast member on CBS’ NCIS, in which he played Chief Medical Examiner Donald “Ducky” Mallard, an eccentric but highly efficient investigator with a knack for psychological profiling, for two decades.

Nooooo. I knew this would happen someday but this is a real shock. I’ve been a fan since his Outer Limits, Greatest Story Ever Told and Great Escape roles. Met him twice, once in Florida and once in London.

My kid sister was about 7-8 and loved that show and Ilya Kuryakin. I used to leave notes on her bed or tacked to her door and sign them from him. She believed it. 😆

As a boy I recall seeing the show a few times, and always thought he was the coolest. It must have been out of my normal TV watching hours as I don’t recall seeing it too often.
