BREAKING NEWS: Judge Aileen Cannon denied Special Counsel Jack Smith’s request to seal government filings in the case against former president Donald Trump.Judge Cannon of the Southern District of Florida, who presides over the case stemming from a Miami grand jury’s June indictment of Trump, has denied the Department of Justice’s request for sealed filings, striking two from the record. In addition, Judge Cannon requested further information from prosecutors regarding the continued use of an out-of-state grand jury to investigate the case.
Some on this thread may remember me posting on this legal anomaly. Prosecutor Jack Smith tried with effort to not get Judge Cannon assigned to the trial - and failed. The judge is obviously wise to all the underhanded tricks being pulled by the DoJ {as usual.}
There is still the issue of Smith using a federal magistrate, Bruce Reinhart, to circumvent Judge Cannon in some issues. She may have to stand up to this weasely tactic. Reinhart is the same magistrate that issued the unconstitutional search warrant for Mar-a-Lago - which needs to be challenged in an appeals court. Certainly Magistrate Reinhart's appearance in this case raises questions as to his part in this whole sordid affair.
