VLF..........................
“And since arrogant men never seem to learn from their mistakes...”
Gen. Custer comes to mind.
.....like “sources tell _____ news that during the Trump administration, independent maritime water negotiations were never attempted or neglected at all...”
Mt. Everest
That depends on personality and their emotional stability.
A possibility for sure. Might cause real problems for others.
We’ll probably never know.....
Additionally there is nothing on the Titan to attach the hose to from what I understand. I don’t know anything about submarines or submersibles but I see only 2 ways these people are rescued. 1. If they are entangled in the wreck then maybe a ROV can disentangle them so they can surface. 2. They are already on the surface
Reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe’s “Cask of Amantillado”.
I believe they had comms on the way down.. but I have not been following it that closely.
Yep, like Payne Stewart and others in planes.
Radio comms simply will not penetrate more than a hundred meters (probably less) at best for civilian comms. They knew they'd lose comms for a period of time. It's when they exceeded that period of time that the support crew figured something was wrong. A beacon wouldn't do squat for them at 12,500' down except waste electricity.
and how thick of a hose would be needed to pump air down to that depth?
they might get a bill.. but most of them are government vessels.
Pretty dang think. Pressure is at 5000 PSI....................
The comms stopped at 1 hr and 45 minutes.
They had slow text messaging and a pinger every 15 minutes.
Both stopped................
I wonder why the vessel wasn’t tethered by a cable to the support ship.
it would have caused so much force on the sub that ocean currents would move the sub where ever they are going. Or most likely, would have simply ripped the hook from the sub.
Time at depth is the major factor in diving.
It wasn't an issue in our class since the deepest we dove was maybe 35 feet........
I would also add that it wasn't the nicest experience since the qualifying dive was I think in October and the rented dry suits were required.
Or check out dive was at Dome Island. Where is the deepest part of Lake George NY?
Lake George (lake), New York - Wikipedia
The lake’s deepest point is 196 feet (60 m), between Dome Island and Buck Mountain in the southern quarter of the lake.
A guy broke thru the ice in his pickup the Winter before and they located it that same day with side scan and the instructor went down and pulled the guy out of the truck and pulled him behind the boat to shore.
“Gen. Custer comes to mind.”
Custer made the fatal, but typical, mistake of underestimating his opponents. Many of our illustrious “leaders” have done the same thing with no repercussions. It just wasn’t Custer’s day.
owner didn’t want to hire smart old white people.
He paid the price.
No fool like a woke fool.
