Our truck was broken into this week and the thieves took our registration and garage door opener.
Hubby disabled the code on the garage door opener and set a new code. Now we wait to see if they’ll try to burgle us. {{sigh}} Feeling very unsettled.

We were with our son and family over the weekend. I asked him if he was going to lock his truck when we parked. He laughed a bit and said if it made me feel better, so he did. I’m so used to locking things. They live in a very rural, small town, where that’s not the norm.
Really sorry to hear about this! I hope that you let the police know and that they find the people who did this! Let the state DMV know ASAP. The fact that they just took the title might mean they will try to get a loan that they do not intend to pay and some day a wrecker will show in 3 or 4 months looking to repossess your truck for some bank!
Melian, I hate to suggest this, its not as if you do not have enough to think about, but its better to be prepared!
Melian.. I was thinking that perhaps you might want to think about putting some sort of motion sensor that also has an alarm that you can turn on at night above the garage, maybe with a bright light?
I see this idea could be fraught with stupidity though. Like every time you went outside, you’d hate for the alarm to go off.

So sorry this happened to you! If you’re worried about the garage door opener, couldn’t you temporarily disconnect it? Of course that would involve opening/closing/unlocking/locking the garage door manually, which is a pain, but we used to have to do that during power outages before we got the solar panels...
We had a power switch put on our garage door opener. When we go to bed we flip the switch (just like a light switch) and it cuts all power to the opener. We turn on in morning. We had our garage open at 2 in the morning one time. We both jumped out of bed when we heard it open. Won’t help during day, but it feels safer at night.
