For the last couple of years I have been looking at relocating out of North Kalifornia (aka Washington State), the political climate and values I hold dear are no longer recognized or respected. I cannot hold onto the hope that the Idaho boarder shifts my way.
Texas was my first choice, then I remembered how many poisonous crawlers live there, and honestly I need my mountains, evergreen trees and snow. Alaska really is the state for me. It will pain me to leave my mountain (Mt. St Helens).
For years I have felt a calling to Alaska, not just because it is the second freedom state, but because of the opportunities it has, I am an outdoorsman, so it checks the box for hunting and fishing, I love metal detecting/gold panning as a hobby. I love taking out my 4 wheeler and snowmobile and getting stuck in the snow. But I also want to own a home and land, as a single income man, home/land ownership is no longer feasable in southern Washington.
As I said, Alaska has been calling me, if there are any Freepers in the Wasilla, Palmer, Anchorage area that might have a possible lineup for work opportunities I would love to hear from you, either public or private message if you want to keep anonymous.
My primary background is maintenance in food processing plants, however I specialize in industrial controls and automation. It should not be hard to find work, but I need a sure thing to pack up life and make a bold move. In a few years, my daughter, her husband and the grandkids are looking to move there as well, it would be nice to be established ahead of time to give them a foundation and soft start.
Suggestions, employment contacts, employment agencies etc would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking myself, but in a narrow window.
Thank you.
The guy I mentioned in my prior post has a home and wife in Florida. Don't know what kind of work arrangement he has with his employer but every couple of weeks he gets to fly home for a few days with his employer paying the expenses.
“I cannot hold onto the hope that the Idaho boarder shifts my way.”
Please don’t tell me you were actually expecting that to happen... maybe it will in the future, sometime, maybe... but nobody in our lifetime will see it.
“Tennessee is always an option, and no income tax.”
Tennessee is not all it’s cracked up to be.
If one is expecting an Idaho border shift why don’t they just move to idaho? It’s close.
Look ,the only way anything is going to shift our way, is to fight for it. That may mean with weaponry, in the near future. We have to stop the destruction our nation at ALL COSTS!!!
Irrelevant since the blue controls all the red... Or more accurately, a group of insane leftist scum control the reasonable people of the state.
I know and just having fun. I would love the thought of Alaska living 20 years ago. I will have to settle for my 25 acres in rural Alabama. Nice and quiet - not counting Christmas morning when it sounds like a war started. Christmas in the south = new gun to try out. That is why gun confiscation won’t work.
Try Georgia. It is pretty well governed and you won’t freeze parts from your body. Alaska is a really expensive place to live. (Oh, I suppose similar to Kalifornica.)
You’ll love the 6 mos of darkness. Snowmobiling in the dark at 20 below zero. Mr. GG2 lived in Seattle and briefly relocated to Wasila for awhile. Its nice in the 3 month summer but he couldn’t take the dark. He loaded up a bunch of fuel cans in his truck and drove out on the AlCan in the middle of the winter. It was that bad. From then on he worked there in the summer and went back to Seattle for the winter.
As far as the women go he said the best compliment you could give was “nice tooth”. 😉
Flying that far that often would kill me if not in first class.
Thank you all for giving input, heard many great things about Alaska in PM’s, many bad things as well. However there was a lot of responces from people in Tennessee. I looked at wages, cost of living, home prices and yes, the southern accent of the ladies.
The night before I prayed for a bold sign to choose my direction. On my way home tonight a fireball streaked across the sky, it was heading southeast. I know we are in the tail of Haleys commet so shooting stars are not uncommon. But most are just streaks east to west, very few are fireballs north to south. I believe god answered my prayer.
