Nashville police have revealed the names and photos of the officers who shot and killed the transgender 28-year-old who killed six people, including three nine-year-olds, at a private school Monday.

Audrey Hale arrived at the Covenant School in her Honda Fit just before 10am and was killed by police less than 15 minutes after opening fire, killing six.

A spokesperson for the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department Monday night revealed that Officers Rex Engelbart and Michael Collazo were the members of the team who fired at Hale, ultimately killing her.

Collazo is a nine-year veteran of the Nashville police force, while Engelbart has served for four years.

Police say that officers rushed to The Covenant School, were able to get in and clear the building as they heard shots from the second floor.

Before she was taken down, Hale killed nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, William Kinney and pastor's daughter, Hallie Scruggs.

Substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, head of school Katherine Koonce, 60, and custodian Mike Hill, 61, were also killed.

I don’t care if it was still twitching. He only fired four times showing constraint. Those coppers were great. Training obviously paid off. Point man with rifle. No hesitation. No let’s wait till we have complete backup, negotiators, drones etc. no hiding in back of cover. I cannot say enough about their bravery.

When was the last time you two responded to an a ti e shooter in a school.

And police are NOT TRAINED to empty their weapons.

Contrary to popular belief, one round from an AR15 will not sent someone flying across the room.

The two of you are absolute morons.

Another homicidal transsexual killed in a police shoot out on the same day - what are the odds!

Because she wasn’t dead. Good Lord, stop watching movies that show a person getting blown across a room from a single pistol shot.

The aftermath of the FBI Miami shootout showed that the guy was shot in the heart and stop continued shooting at the agents for over a minute.

Two of my nieces are married to police officers in the town I live in.
One of my nieces is expecting her first child and I pray for her husbands safety everyday and for her well being.

I have my issues with cops, like anything there are good and bad ones.

But I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to live in a world without them.

Thats right, 1st 7-8 shots were the perp firing at cops or kids, they were far away when the shots started perhaps it was shooting and running from the police. Nevertheless, the first few knocked it down and then 2nd cop demanded it stop moving and apparently didnt so he delivered 4 more for the coup de grace

I've never shot anyone. I did learn to shoot through a program conducted by the Police Athletic League a long time ago in my home town(in NJ). I was taught gun safety and learned to shoot a .22 rifle. Even got a little certificate for it.

I still have it. That said I would think in a situation like this, life and death, a gun fight, adrenaline pumping, the instinct for self preservation kicking in but having to stay focused and run to the sound of the gun fire any one of us would have emptied an entire magazine and then some to make sure your target doesn't get back up.

“Audrey Hale arrived at the Covenant School in her Honda Fit just before 10am and was killed by police less than 15 minutes after opening fire, killing six.”

I guess Ms Hale didn’t get the email about the George H. W. Bush gun free school zone.

“Amen. Nashville Police acted quickly to take down this Tranny Killer, unlike the
Texas School shooting where Cops did not go in quickly.”

Yes. Hopefully this is an indication that law enforcement (and the educational system) has learned a valuable lesson from the Parkland and Uvalde fiascos. Cowardice and passivity get people killed. Law enforcement needs to act quickly and decisively.

Yes, the police are indeed trained to empty their weapons.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/26/us/why-police-shoot-so-many-rounds-trnd/index.html

“The “textbook answer” is that officers fire until they’ve terminated a threat, according to Seth Stoughton, an associate professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law who studies policing.

Officers use deadly force on a suspect they perceive to be an imminent threat of death or bodily harm to the officers or others. In training, police are told to use force until that person no longer presents a threat, Stoughton said.

Why do police shoot to kill?
The number of shots it takes to “terminate a threat” depends on the circumstances.

“Sometimes firing multiple shots makes complete sense,” said Stoughton, a former officer. “Sometimes firing multiple shots or the sheer volume or shots than officers fire doesn’t make sense.”

If officers are using deadly force, they’re usually trained to not pause their fire and to shoot in quick succession – taking a break to assess the suspect they’re shooting at could give that suspect time to harm them or others, he said.

And legally, the number of shots officers fire often doesn’t matter, he said: Under the Fourth Amendment, officers must have had reason to believe the suspect they fired on was a threat who could’ve killed them or caused great bodily harm. The court determines whether the officer was reasonable in making that assessment, not whether the number of shots fired was reasonable.”

And another article on the topic from PoliceMag:

https://www.policemag.com/blogs/weapons/blog/15318082/maintaining-accuracy-with-rapid-fire

“One shooting drill that will help improve your speed and accuracy is to draw and fire one round as fast as possible as soon as you’re on target then return to the ready pistol position and repeat this process until your pistol is empty.”

So again, this is how some police train. Take it from the police themselves.

I noticed the one officer fired 4 shots on her while she was down and wondered why he did that.

The shooter was at a second floor window he had broken out and was firing at arriving police and their vehicles outside.

The point officer with the rifle was the first to see and engage the shooter while he was still firing out the window.

The point officer fired and knocked the shooter down, but the shooter was still moving his arms and hands and he still had a weapon, so the backup officer fired until the shooter complied and stopped moving his hands.

Or was dead.

A very good response and tactical entry by courageous police officers.
