Once again, the most Catholic states prove to be the most far left states.
Total bullshit. If that’s the case, then attorneys and psychiatrists are next.
That said, as a practicing Catholic, I knew as a young lad to never tell a priest anything more than I was mean to my brothers and sisters. I wasn’t giving anybody a cheap thrill by confessing masturbation. Lol. If that’s a sin, I’ll take my chances with Saint Peter.
“Catholic canon law mandates that a priest who violates the seal of confession is automatically excommunicated.”
Well, then the priest can keep his secret, protect the child abuser, and go to jail. If it’s really a “sacrament”, he should be happy to do so. All the apostles and early church fathers were joyous when the secular authorities would persecute them for obeying God.
So where does Delaware stand on keeping a child’s supposed gender identity from parents? Seems if you are going to demand priest break a confessional you can’t require teachers to keep confidences.
As soon as they pass a law like this then no one will confess anything. So it negates the purpose of the entire law. At least the way it is there is a chance that a bad person might be influenced to stop bad behavior by getting help from the church.
It's 'hearsay' at best.
This is satan’s slaves at work. You see, satan isn’t satisfied with your promise of your soul at death in return for earthly successes. No no no satan wants works not just faith. He copied that idea from somewhere.
Saying “I love and worship you oh prince of the darkness,” just isn’t enough.
Those who would rejoice at the downfall of the Catholic Church ought to keep in mind that their Church would be next.
First they came for the Catholics but I wasn’t a Catholic so I did not......
Why are people telling a priest all their secrets anyway? God is available 24/7
Such a law gets none of the result superficially intended.. Enacted it would cut confessions o near zero and would make criminals out of those confessors who refuse to comply- all of them, I hope. An arrest of a Priest would end Confession altogether.
I can’t find any examples of laws like this ever being used in the case of penitential rites. Supposedly some have been on the books for a while. I think maybe they just pass them to make people feel good.
No one that supports them has ever even described how it supposed to work in practice, much less a single example of it actually working, at least that I have seen. That seems like a pretty low bar.
It seems like it would be hearsay no matter what unless there was some sort of recording. The priest can’t confirm or deny they heard anyone’s confession even if the person that confessed asks them to do so. It’s not like there are notes or appointment/billing records like a psychiatrist would keep.
