What’s even more sick is that the 410a phaseout was supported and lobbied for in govt by all the trade organizations. They get a big pay day everytime this happens. New units. New tools. New training. The good news for you is 410 will be around for awhile yet. But it’s madness.

R-410A is scheduled for elimination from all new systems in 2023 and the price is going to the moon!
410 was called PURON, no problems, good forever...
When my 1995 R-22 system started to lose refrigerant I topped it off with R-290 until I could get the heat pump running. R-290 is extra dry propane, BBQ propane can possibly have a tiny bit of water that will freeze and plug the expansion valve/orifice.
A European company is producing a heat pump with NO MOVING PARTS! It USES SOUND WAVES!!! https://t.ly/8QiZ
I want one, After the price comes down.
Like the English TV tax/license police, Big Brother will be checking utility bills for signs of ANY TYPE of air conditioning.
The penalties start at six months on the wheel of pain generating electricity for the better people.
The better people need AC to take better care of the proles.
