Sea ice extent is not a very useful metric, as it is mostly dependent on prevailing wind and ocean currents pushing the ice around on the ocean surface. The implication of course is that this is due to “climate change” but there is no reason to believe this.

True that. Then there are studies in Antarctica of ikaite crystals showing the temps there during the Medieval Warm Period were higher than now.
