Memphis cops on Friday night released footage showing the events leading up to the death of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols.

Horrific footage showed the moments he was stopped by police, him fleeing, then the vicious beating when they caught up and the lack of medical care.

Five officers involved in the January 7 incident have been charged with second-degree murder, and fired from the force.

CJ Davis, the well-respected Memphis police chief, said she had never witnessed anything so devastating in her policing career.

Meanwhile Benjamin Crump, an attorney representing the Nichols family, said Nichols was treated like 'a human piñata'.

The four clips - three from body cameras, one from a surveillance camera attached to a post - have shocked and angered America.

Here DailyMail.com breaks down the footage from start to finish - from the moment he was pulled over to him slumped next to a cop cruiser as EMTs watched on.

At 8:20pm on January 7, Nichols, who was born in Sacramento and moved to Memphis in February 2020, was driving home from a suburban park, where he had taken photos of the sunset.

He was driving along East Raines Road in south eastern Memphis when he encountered the police. One officer said he was 'cutting through traffic'.

'So we just try to get him to stop. He don't stop,' an officer told his colleagues, in the body camera footage. 'Hit the siren. Stop stop stop.

'Then he drove around, swerved like he gonna hit my car. 'So then I'm like - *******.

'He pull up to the red light. Stop at the red light. He put his turning signal on. 'So we jump out the car. '**** went from there.'

People keep saying this is a “training” issue. No one is trained to beat anyone on the ground. No one is trained to kick people in the head. This is not a training issue.

This is a hiring issue. Clearly, this department is scraping the thug bottom of the barrel.

Blacks murdered in the USA jumped by something like 4000 in the remainder of the 2020 after George Floyd protests. Black traffic fatalities increased even more.

Absolutely... That is exactly what I saw too... And he was “out on his feet” the whole time having no clue what was happening to him. His primal “fight or flight” was in full control trying to survive. Just as one would absolutely do if attacked by a wild animal.

Is it possible that the way Tyre reacted to a simple stop...was ...unusual? Why did he RESIST so much.

Its only a guess, but I think he was autistic. The stimuli of situation triggered and absolute "fight or flight" response. All other parts of the brain are shut off. I have a nephew like this. When he gets into a tense situation, there is no understanding of anything else. The more Tyre struggled, the more the stupid cops beat him.

As a side not, now I'm waiting for same idiot to respond: "Oh, so its OK for cops to murder autistic people???!!!"

And even if you do not IMMEDIATELY respond to commands it gives officer’s personal discretion to execute you without thought or hesitation.

My gut belief is that big cities are having hiring problems because really who wants to be a cop anymore? So they are forced to loosen standards to fill the positions.

Look at the people who clubbed protesters into the ground at the J6 demonstration. I happened to see a video of a (female) cop beating a protester, Roseanne (?) something, to death.

Why are they trained to do this? As I said on another post, it’s like the beat-downs of harmless, often elderly or female, anti-shutdown protesters in Canada, NZ, AU ... and at conservative political protests in the US.

They go for the weak and vulnerable. Tyre Nichols was a skateboarder and thus may have been a little on the off-the-wall side, but he was law abiding, worked as a FedEx driver, lived with his mother and, like most black men, had a child with a woman he wasn’t married to. But he was certainly no threat to the cops.

I think that was one of the reasons they beat him. He was vulnerable, he annoyed them, and they were bullies...empowered by a badge and truly lousy training.

We need to look at the police chief, we need to look at the head of the Capitol police...we need to look at the heads of all these departments.

The answer to those questions is both, “Absolutely not.”

They learn that stuff on the street. Usually before the even become police.

So it’s a department issue, not just an individual issue. How could a department have so MANY “out of control” cops, and also how could the sheriffs and others who arrived not have wondered about this?

There’s a problem there and in many departments. They never oppose real crime or riots but are trained to attack weakness (that is, a government-designated enemy of the people, such as an anti-abortion protester) or personal insults. I think they thought he was dissin’ them and they didn’t like his type.
