Thank you.

Indeed, when we see some here turn against our great Ronald Reagan, we understand with immense clarity that there is something fishy going on here on Free Republic.

Free Republic is infiltrated by Kremlin operatives. They are not too many yet though, and they are very easy to detect...That is reassuring, so let’s stay positive.

While I hold that Ronald Reagan was the Greatest US President in modern US History, bar none, ... I believe it was his own policy developed by himself, his trustworthiness and his Diplomatic ability combined with his honest communication to all sides that resulted in the voluntary dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Reagan grew and improved his entire life to become the Great and Indispensable man in modern history, and the entertainment and Left's love for him turned to virulent hatred because of that growth.

Thank you for this link.
I agree, with the analysis they made. Regan did indeed see the Russian Soviet system as something evil on a near spiritual level too...

I like this part of the analysis from your link :

“Although some historians credit this speech with bringing an end to the Cold War, it was widely criticized at the time for its religious and moral absolutism. Reagan’s strong anti-communist message placed the Cold War in an explicitly moral context. Reagan cast the Cold War as a spiritual, rather than a diplomatic or political problem. The “Evil Empire” in question was the Soviet Union, and according to Reagan, the evils of communism denied the God-given moral rights to freedom and democracy. Within this larger framing of the Cold War, Reagan built his case against a proposed nuclear freeze, which he claimed would benefit the Soviets. During his second term as president, however, he negotiated a deal with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that actually reduced nuclear weapons.”

Yes, they are entertaining but they are too easy to detect... it’s not even a challenge anymore...

I used to think highly of this, until I realized that Reagan and the conservatives of that era were too focused on foreign policy, and turned a blind eye to the cultural assault on our domestic institutions, which were being captured and commandeered by the toxic left. He bears some blame for our present cultural rot. The misplaced emphasis on the military industrial complex allowed the left to win the culture, and eventually dominate the military industrial complex also. Overall, Reagan is a failure for domestic issues in my mind.

“”Russia also bombs apartment buildings, schools, and playgrounds, sets up torture chambers in areas it occupies, and persecutes visible minorities”

We do every single one of those things in America in spades. And not only that officially were an atheist nation. Russia isn’t perfect, but their open stated and worked for goal is a more Christian society.

Ironically, we, under the Biden regime, have switched places with the old Soviet Union. We have become the new evil empire.

We've rigged elections that both parties are complicit in allowing over the past two election cycles. The FBI is become the KGB, conducting armed raids of former President's homes. The DOJ has declared parents domestic terrorists while turning a blind eye to left-wing terrorists that attack Crisis Pregnancy Centers and churches. Violent George Floyd protesters get little or no punishment while J6 protesters are denied Constitutional rights and are the equivalent of political prisoners. We've trained and funded ISIS is Syria and neo-Nazis in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russia has 13% flat tax rate and its government protects Judeo-Christian morality. Russia has spent billions building churches in recent years. Marriage is a between a man and a woman. There are only two genders. LGBT propaganda has been banned. It's President is making videos that promote the belief that each child deserves a mommy and daddy in the home.

Russia builds churches ?

Have you forgotten Putin helped construct Europes largest Mosque, right in Moscow? It’s massive!

Russia has built an axis with Iran and Chechenya and Syria.
Putin is often applauding islamic activities in Russia and in Europe.

True political opposition parties are forbidden in Russia.
All Putin opposition leaders are now rotting in Russia Gulags.

All media, newspapers, TV, journalists have to be pro Kremlin Deep State by law !

Is THAT what you like DesertRhino ??

And not only that officially were an atheist nation.

An officially atheist nation that prints "In God We Trust" on our currency and has schoolchildren pledge allegiance to "one nation, under God" every school day. The US is not and has never been a Godless nation. Please stop repeating libtard propaganda on FR.

Russia isn’t perfect, but their open stated and worked for goal is a more Christian society.

A Christian nation would not have a higher abortion rate than the US nor force its taxpayers to subsidize abortions.
Abortion Rates by Country
Russia Proposes Reduced Funding to Abortion Clinics

There is also the matter of Russia supporting BLM, black Marxists, and black socialists. It would not surprise me in the slightest if Russia were also funding our enviro-whackos in order to boost their own oil industry by crippling ours.

Russia is not our friend.

When Regan made that speech the USSR was a commie hellhole run by their ‘intelligence’ thugs - the KGB.

The KGB pushed atheism, outlawed religious expression and did their best to undermine traditional families. The ‘newspaper - Pravda - ran the stories and ‘point of view’ of KGB bullies.

“Leaders’ in the USSR were per-approved before they could run for office and the outcome of elections was a given. Anyone who suggested USSR elections were rigged was considered an enemy of the state.

Political trials were common - they were one sided show trials. Anyone who protested against the USSR was considered insane or criminal. The USSR did NOT allow citizens to be armed or allowed to protect themselves.

And yeah Regan knew evil when he saw it.

If he lived in today’s ‘America’ he might make a similar speech about about democrats and the hellholes they produce in our country.

No, I liked Reagan and one of the reasons why is that he managed to keep us out of any major war. I cannot stand communists who try to twist his speeches into justification for wars for profit.

We do every single one of those things in America in spades

you want to compare America and Russia?

OK, how many neighboring countries has America invaded, held sham referendums, and then tried to annex? (none)

How many reporters or political opponents of the country's leader have been assassinated in America? (none)

if Russia is so great, why do none of its neighbors want anything to do with it?

America and Russia ... apples and oranges

Russia and America are completely alike, it will prove it:

In America, you can say that you don’t like the American President.

In Russia, you too can say that you don’t like the American President.

Through 1985, Reagan administered his Presidency by (in part) emphasizing a strong military, and Reagan had become a true Gentleman in demeanor.

Interestingly, in Foreign Relations, the "Gentlemanly demeanor" paid off, Foreign Diplomats trusted and respected Reagan. The American media, not so much.

Reagan responded with "Trust But Verify", the Diplomatic regimen that resulted in the peaceful dissolution of the Soviet Union.

After 1985, Reagan himself created Diplomatic Policy that allowed him to create and build (if necessary) the "Star Wars" Anti Ballistic Missile Defense System, AND offer the same system to the Soviet Union, for THEIR defense, free. This, in conjunction with Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty adjustments (some of which Reagan refused).

The point that shines here is Reagan accomplished this miracle by use of Strong Gentlemanly Diplomacy, and Legitimate concern for the defense of the citizens of the US AND subjects of the Soviet Union, not offensive US Military action.

Reagan left the Presidency in 1989, the most successful peacemaker in modern history.
