No one is deterring any conflict. Have you head of Ukraine? Our political leaders are actively stirring conflict and selling out our sovereignty to feed their own pockets. Yes this is great tech, but my gut tells me the Chi-coms been given the blueprints. And this ain’t 1952 anymore. Autonomous stand off weapons can do this job. To drain the treasury to scare enemies with appearances is nuts.

I don’t believe your analysis is accurate.

Do you think Russia would have put one foot In Ukraine IF Ukraine had joined NATO many years ago?

Kinda, like buying a multi million dollar life insurance policy on your spouse the day AFTER they are sadly and tragically involved in a fatal car accident?

I’m sure you’ve seen this, Raytheon Reveals US Plan To Remove Anti-Air Systems From Gulf For Ukraine: Also lands $1.2 billion contract for Ukraine rockets... More brilliant strategic planning from our betters. I’m sure our allies are thrilled about this as well as our new whiz bang toy.

A wiz bang toy that causes our enemies to think twice before stepping foot into any NATO country is a wiz bang toy worth investing in.

In my not so humble opinion of course.

Up to 753,000 views on the official Edwards Air Force Base link ! A page with about 12k followers! I would word is traveling fast.

Major news networks will be chatting and speculating on the timeline and actually first flight !

Many other news sources are also posting stories clips comments this weekend with when combined will be well into the millions.

Once again, as we talk publicly about the B-21 we need to do so from a position of political strength and unity. The fact that we CAN needs to be a deterrent that makes our enemies so afraid that THEY DON’T test the NATO resolve!

Kinda like quitting your job, draining your bank account, and mortgaging you house to buy life insurance. Agreements were signed at the end of the cold war. We meddled in Ukraine, broke those agreements, and conducted all manner of corrupt activities in the Ukraine from money laundering to human trafficking to child exploitation. Your strawman argument holds no sway with me.

I’m in line with your thinking.
When will it fly?
How many will we have?
What are they capable of?
We need these NOW if we’re going to influence the Chinese.
I think I read they are planning on 100 of these things- we know how that works, we’ll probably end up with far fewer.

The price per plane will be based on 100 built.

But we’ll only build 20 and call it done.

With overruns, the cost will be 2-3 BILLION per plane.

For a bomber that will never dare to overfly a tier-one enemy’s air defenses. Radar stealth is just ONE factor in finding and killing an aircraft.

What is needed is 1. Low cost per plane. 2. Very long range. 3. Ability to launch long-range stand-off missiles from over open ocean.

But the MIC won’t make fresh billions out of maintaining B-52s.

Meanwhile, back in “Reality Land,” we are running out of everything in the here and now, while we begin to pump billions into the next white elephant MIC grift, which will be obsolete before it flies.

“During intense fighting in the eastern Donbas region this summer, Russia used more ammunition in two days than the British military has in stock.”

In a stunningly unforeseen geopolitical development, Russia has *significantly* demilitarized NATO.

Military briefing: Ukraine war exposes ‘hard reality’ of west’s weapons capacity

Nations have been slow to sign contracts companies need to boost supply to Kyiv

https://www.ft.com/content/a781fb71-49bb-4052-ab05-a87386bf3d5e?shareType=nongift

Nearly 10 months into Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the allies that have backed Kyiv’s war effort are increasingly concerned by the struggle to increase ammunition production as the conflict chews through their stockpiles.

At stake is not only the west’s ability to continue supplying Ukraine with the weapons it needs but also allies’ capacity to show adversaries such as China that they have an industrial base that can produce sufficient weaponry to mount a credible defence against possible attack.

“Ukraine has focused us . . . on what really matters,” William LaPlante, the Pentagon’s chief weapons buyer, told a recent conference at George Mason University. “What matters is production. Production really matters.”

After sending more than $40bn of military support to Ukraine, mostly from existing stocks, Nato members’ defence ministries are discovering that dormant weapons production lines cannot be switched on overnight. Increasing capacity requires investment which, in turn, depends on securing long-term production contracts.

The US has sent about a third of its stock of Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine and a third of its stockpile of anti-aircraft Stinger missiles. But it has little prospect of being able to replace these quickly. “There’s no question that . . . [supplying Ukraine] has put pressure on our defence industrial base,” Colin Kahl, US under-secretary of defence for policy, said last month.

The UK has turned to a third party, which it has declined to identify, to restock its depleted stores of NLAW anti-tank missiles. “There are some really hard realities that we have been forced to learn,” James Heappey, armed forces minister, said in October.

I have always believed in a strong military as a deterrent to aggression.

With the likes of these military people they put on stage, it makes me believe that The current iteration of military and political leaders coupled with something like a B-21 is akin to a six year old mentally handicapped chef with the sharpest chef knife in the drawer.

I don’t want a B-21 or any advanced weapons in the hands of those people.

They have been very busy since January 2009 in purging the military. The people who run systems and people in the military and the government are no longer the friends of patriotic Americans.

Whether the B-21 is worthwhile or not, I cannot say. It is true that some things are difficult to put a price tag on. But I don’t have any faith in a military purged of the type of people I and my family have known, and replaced with the type of people that Leftists have known.

Travis McGee’s opinion on these matters is worth considering.

Yes. I believe he has credentials as former Special Forces, and has been both a public writer and a commentator since leaving active duty. I may not agree with him on everything, but I seriously weigh his input on these things.

If I am wrong in my impressions here, I have no doubt I will be corrected by someone who knows better than I do.

FWIW, I have put my foot in it before challenging the credentials of someone on this forum, we have all kinds here. And we have fakes, too. But the poster is not a fake. I have concluded after stepping on my own privates a few times that is better to debate on the issues than to debate on credentials, unless you know them in advance.

Please read #30.

We have no more 155 shells to send to Ukraine, so we have to send 105 and 120mm mortar, which is badly outranged by Russian 152. M-777s, that were great firing a half-dozen shells a day now and then in A-stan, wear out and break down in high-tempo war. Do we have more to send? No. Also Javelins, Stingers, etc etc.

But instead of ramping up production of what we NEED NOW, we are going to shovel billions to the MIC to make a white elephant at 2+ BILLION per copy, that won't fly for 5-10 years.

And stealth is only ONE factor in finding a bomber flying over a tier-one peer adversary.

But these guys will make more billions, and that's what really matters.

Useful for the destruction of more third world toilets followed by useless nation building adventures.

Useless against Russia, China, North Korea, and eventually Iran.
