When I first read this I thought, "Oh no. Did Australia change it's flag to some crazy geometric multi-culti flag? What a shame."
So, I had to check to see what's Australia's current flag. Here are the 1st, 2nd, and current flags of Australia with their red ensign versions (for civil use) since it became a federal state within the commonwealth in 1901:
I have to admit, I don't see a very big difference, apart from the red ensign, how this flag is different than the current flag. The stars have changed slightly over the years so that's obviously the violation. (I wouldn't have noticed but for the descriptions given for each flag.) Then, I read this:
What is the meaning of the Red Ensign flag?
The red ensign remains an official Australian flag flown at sea by merchant ships. For years, it has been the flag of choice for the Australian sovereign citizen movement, a loosely aligned group that falsely claims the nation's legal system is illegitimate.
They've made the display of past national flags a "crime" down under like they have the "Betsy Ross" flag and others here...but a demolition order? Sheesh.
Or, maybe it’s the 6-pointed star instead of 7?

Re: Caledonian Hotel...

Why a country pub known as the ‘freedom hotel’ by anti-vax mandate protestors was ordered to remove a symbolic Australian flag from its roof (9 April 2022)
(snip) A country pub crowned the ‘Freedom Hotel’ has been ordered to take down a controversial flag associated with the anti-vaccine movement.
The Caledonian Hotel in Singleton, in regional NSW, was notified by mail in March that it had 28 days to remove the Australian Federation flag.
Singleton Council sent a letter explaining it had received a complaint the flag had been added to the heritage building without development approval.
A photograph of the hotel shows a flag of the Union Jack unfurled on the roof that is painted red along with six white stars.
The flag has become a symbol of anti-government and anti-vaccine sentiment with protestors frequently spotted waving it at rallies during the Covid pandemic.
Licensee Brad Hill took to Facebook to slam the decision and defend the display of the flag.
‘This flag on our roof represents what we at the Cali stand for,’ the post read. ‘The law of the land where nobody sits above the law.
‘Basic human rights that no one is entitled to take. Freedom of choice that should never be questioned. No discrimination or segregation that is imposed upon us by a disgusting mainstream media barrage.’
