And England. The Vikings became the British aristocracy.

Some Vikings settled in Northern France, and became known as the Norman ("North Men"). In 1066, they invade the British Isles and conquer it.

Even the Saxon half of the Anglo-Saxons that they replaced in England were from Scandinavia by way of Germany and the lowlands.

Stark’s book mentions the Vikings occupation of Normandy. IIRC, France ceded the land to them with the understanding that they would stop pillaging and plundering their country. There was probably more to their agreement but that was the gist of it.
