How shocked victims hunted down the ‘king of revenge porn’: ‘I felt violated’
NY Post ^ | 7/15/22 | Samantha Ibrahim

He was the “king of revenge porn” — until his shocked and fed-up victims took him down.

The “king” in question is Hunter Moore, the founder of the now-defunct revenge porn website IsAnyoneUp.com and whose horrific enterprise is examined — along with his victims’ desperate fight for justice — in a new three-part Netflix documentary, “The Most Hated Man on the Internet.”

Moore, 36, created the site in 2010 and it allowed people allegedly hurt by relationships to post anonymous NSFW sexual content without the consent of their partners.

“Me and my friends would post [photos of] a bunch of girls, and I was like, ‘Yo, I can make money of f–kin’ people over,'” he says in archival footage featured in the trailer.

One interviewee in the series noted she received over 200 notifications that her photo was posted and another recalled persistently asking Moore to delete images of her.

“The response that I got [from him was]: ‘LOL,'” the subject says.

Charlotte Laws and her daughter Kayla — the latter falling victim to the site in 2012 when she was 24 — were interviewed in the doc about their scary experiences with Moore...

What drives one to go to website like this creep’s? I mean if they want to see porn there is plenty of the consensual variety (or so I’ve heard).

Don’t take nude photos or videos of yourself and send them to people and don’t be promiscuous, let alone record it.

he sounds like a jerk but don’t let anybody convince you to be photographed nude.
It’s just a stupid move.
Saw a show on Girls Gone Wild- these dumb girls would ask “wait. my parents won’t see this?!” EVERYBODY saw that, dummy.

“Charlotte, who worked as an investigator for an insurance company, explained in a recent Daily Mail story how she found Moore. Once she scored his real name, she discovered he had set up his site in Woodland, California, from the basement of his parents’ place”

Hiding in the basement.....what a shocker

“Don’t take nude photos or videos of yourself and send them to people”

The one woman said the pics were on her laptop and it got hacked.......which is why I take the simple security step of keeping 99% of my files on an external hard drive and I only plug it in when needed.

Dude is sleaze and revenge porn is sleazier by design but the old “I was hacked” line is pretty worn out. I’d bet $1000 this files came from an ex.

[snip] Hello Hunter........It’s been nearly 10 years since I took over and shut down your despicable revenge porn site www.isanyoneup.com. Sometimes you need to be a bully to beat a bully and I’m the first to admit that I intellectually bullied the ever-loving shit out of you. Your main stated objective was to “ruin” young girls’ lives... It was shocking that you were only sentenced to two and a half years in federal prison for your plethora of crimes. That wasn’t nearly enough time for what you did to those girls. [/snip]

Very possible.

Never amazes me what people post on the net and then are shocked when it comes back to bite ‘em.

The wife and I are kinda hooked on true crime murder mysteries right now.
Many times law enforcement catches people that were using their cell phone texting in the commission of a crime....many times murder, and that digital footprint was crucial in obtaining a conviction.

Criminals ain’t smart....fortunately.

If I remember right the girls-gone-wild people got sued pretty hard.

A lot of those girls go to spring break to have a good time, and it’s not that I condone illicit sexual encounters, but they drink a lot and get taken advantage of in their impaired cognitive condition. They don’t think people are going to be taking video of them and posting it all over the internet.

Revenge porn is a violation of people’s privacy but it’s a horse of a slightly different color. Rather than being preyed upon in their impaired state by someone they don’t know, they have had their privacy violated by someone that they trusted at one time.

I agree with the others who have commented on here, if you don’t want to regret having your privacy violated, don’t take explicit pictures of yourself or have wanton sexual encounters. However, that doesn’t give people the right to violate your privacy.
