ALBERTSON, N.Y. (WCBS) - A 70-year-old New York woman was mauled to death by the family dog in a scene police described as “horrific.”

Warning: This article contains disturbing details that may be upsetting to readers.

The victim’s husband told police when he returned home from work Wednesday, he found the pit bull dragging his wife through the backyard. Responding officers described the victim as having been mutilated.

Police say the 7-year-old dog turned on them before an officer shot and killed it.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The dog was reportedly the couple’s son’s pet dog, but he died just a couple weeks ago in a motorcycle crash.

Police say they have no reports of any previous incidents regarding the dog.

“Yeah, whatever you say, Queen of the Twin Peaks Waco threads.”

I wonder ... how does it feel to have me living in your head for years?

We can call it TGDS!

I am only reminded of it when you make a hypocritical statement about people who ride motorcycles.

But thanks for admitting the real troll of those threads was you.

Just another self-righteous person trying to show off their moral superiority.

Dogs identified as pit bulls are around one in four dogs in America

If that were Rottweilers we’d likely have Rott hate threads here for same reason

I’ve got the link you know I do

But folks here don’t care

Sound and fury is all that matters

always been like that here

My beef with pits and Ive owned a couple is male bulldogs of any style besides boxers or fat boys tend to be poor guards but compulsive dog aggressive towards other male dogs

It sure wouldn't be a Rotten Shepherd (more Rott than Shep). We've had our 100 pound bundle of love for almost 8 years. She's a great dog, gentle and protective around my two grandkids: grandson's 11, granddaughter just turned two.

My granddaughter spent a few days with us last month, became BFF with the dog. The dog slept next to her crib, wouldn't let her out of her sight.

The dog was bummed out for two days after she left.

We don't rough house much anymore. When she was younger, she bit me hard enough to break the skin on a few occasions.

Now she's relegated to stalking and chasing the wild bunny rabbits that trespass on our property.

Having said all that, I still keep an eye on her, just in case she goes bonkers.

You made me laugh so loud, I woke up my Rotten Shepherd...she gave me a dirty look, then went back to sleep on her memory foam bed.

Yeah, she's spoiled...lol.

She's so smart, she knows when to hit the water dish. She won't drink much when we're getting ready to go out. When we get home, she hydrates to the max.

I was that way with Bush, until I hit a wall...lol.

Had to do with the firing of retired LTG Jay Garner as the head of Iraq Reconstruction. He was fired after just 30 days on the job. He said his job was to return Iraq back to the Iraqis, "it's their country."

No way was Cheney/Halliburton/Brown & Root going to allow that to happen. There was too much money to be made.

I knew LTG Garner for a very brief time, about a week. I was the XO of a support detachment at the German range at Todendorf, used twice a year for Vulcan firing practice. I was really lucky, I was there for the summer shoot. The "spring" shoot is in February, I've never been so cold in my life.

My job as the XO was to shadow him, to be there when he had a request to fill. He was the Battalion Commander of 2/60 ADA, out of Kaiserslautern/Ramstein, a LT Colonel at the time.

The way he interacted with his soldiers was simply remarkable. He wasn't a screamer, he was approachable, and the respect and admiration his officers and soldiers had for him was obvious.

For Cheney to fire a man with such outstanding credentials and demonstrated leadership ability, was more of an insight into Bush/Cheney's thought process than anything else.
