Joe Manchin and Chuck Schumer looked at loggerheads after their talks on a sweeping climate, tax and health care bill ran aground nearly two weeks ago. In fact, they were working on Washington’s best-kept secret.
On July 18, four days after Manchin and Schumer’s talks seemed to fizzle out with only a limited health care deal, Manchin reached out to Schumer to see if he was amenable to picking things back up. By Wednesday afternoon, they had a deal on a bill that includes energy and tax policy, a turnaround after the two deadlocked on Democrats’ marquee party-line agenda.

I can’t believe the people of West Virginia still fall for this guy’s shtick. Playing the role of the other ‘Old Joe’ he inevitably sides with the his marxist brethren, all the while knowing the Mountaineers will faithfully vote to keep him in office.
[I hope you’re right! I respect Manchin for standing up to Biden and Schumer. But I always had the feeling that Manchin was just holding out for the right price.]
If Manchin doesn’t flip to the GOP, he is done. If he does this deal, even if he flips later, he’s done anyway. If Manchin becomes a born-again Republican, I could see Morrissey running against him in the primary just to settle some unfinished business from 2018.
* In 2012, Morrissey won AG by 2.5%. In 2016, he won by 10%. In 2020, he won by 28%. You can almost read the writing on the wall for 2024.

If there really is a deal than it cements Biden as immensely successful legislatively. He has gotten everything he wanted, all of the wasteful and ruinous spending and bad policies and just about all of it with GOP support in either committee or on the floor. He is the worst President in living memory because of it and America may never recover but he doesn’t care because he’s just a puppet and his real masters are thrilled they got it all without taking a bit of blame.

Manchin knows the News Media will be in his side until Election Day.

So you're suggesting Manchin is throwing in his hand? If so, then everything he's done up to now to save his own political future was for naught? Or maybe they've just funded the "Manchin retirement account" in the Caymans, and he got word 'The Check cleared'?
The dems must be feeling a bit more confident about November.
