“isn’t a wide open pedal event the whole idea behind a Mustang?”

Not when your in a crowded mall or grocery store parking lot.

That issue is apparently not limited to this model either.

I have a neighbor that had a 3 year old onventionally powered Ford explorer.....she came out of the grocery store, cranked it up and it immediately accelerated right into the side of a building.

What the hell is that?

overheating main battery contactor

They need a bigger contactor and better thermal management.

> Vapor lock? Throttle body module failure? <

My first car (which a bought for $500) had a carburetor problem. The carburetor would stick and the car would stall. I’d have to pull off the road, pop the hood, and unstick it. That happened every 50 miles or so. Not kidding.

So maybe Ford should check the Mach-E‘s carburetor.

Side note to Ford: No need to compensate me for my advice. I’m happy to help.

Absolutely. Since they have “wide open pedal events,” the logical first place to look is the carburetion system.

What the hell is that?

Drive by wire. No more mechanical connections to the accelerator, brake pedal, steering. No brake linkage/pushrod to the master cylinder. No cable from the accelerator pedal to the throttle body. No steering column. It's all electric sensors and servos on many new cars. It's scary.

I wouldn't have called being stupid looking a safety risk, but if they do, I applaud their dedication!

Think of a wire like a hose. “wide open” works. Plus, everyone knows what it means, anyway.

Betcha their ‘solution’ is gonna be spot-welding the contactor to the first battery point.

I’ll tell you what it is. It’s called a computer. And it has no business controlling an automobile.

That’s the only story to have been corrected.

Every other outlet than ran with the stop-sale order has stuck with the stop-sale.
