Fact: Walmart has done more to fight poverty than any government program.
My idea: Everyone works 40 hours a week-provable-before getting one cent of government assistance. Switch to a fair tax where everyone pays the same rate. Then once a year congress votes to declare what the minimum income should be for that one year. We are subsidizing tattoos indirectly under the current system.
I’m with a fair tax at this stage of our country. When I started working at 16, in 1976 minimum wage was $2.30. Michigan now is $9.87. In 2011, it was $7.40.
So in 46 years, minimum wage went from 2.30 t0 9.87. $7.57 increase.
