I wish that were the case. But voters are too scared to vote for the “devil they don’t know” or just stay away from the polls so they can send people like Graham home.
Open primaries, RNC, state GOPs, donors, PACs and vicious oppositional research won’t allow for serious challengers unless the incumbent is so bad that they have no choice. But, they just handpick the successor and most voters fall in line.
But, it would be wonderful if you were right.
On one side; Matt Gaetz. A fighter defending the constitution.
On the other side; Lindsey Graham. A squish destroying the constitution.
This is the difference between a conservative and RINO.

Red flag laws can and will be abused.
The abuse needs to be numerically limited by state to .01% of the population maximum, $3000 in professional fees to contest takings regardless of means so a middle class person can fight any taking, mandatory annual retention reviews, a $100 red flag filing fee that is non-refundable and non-reimbursable, ten times more in family law cases, sworn affidavid required, two government psychiatrists must sign off, etc.
Otherwise, it's pretty easy to construct a scenario with a ridiculous result that enables aurder spree that everyone could have predicted.
