I’m wondering why they called the FBI instead of digging the hole themselves? The last people I would call for help is anyone from the government.

It’s stolen U.S. Gov’t gold, even if it was 1863. They’d snatch it if someone dug it up, at least this guy might get a finder’s fee.

Its probably in an area where they can’t carry out a clandestine dig so they tried to cut a deal. Mr.GG2 and some partners tried that once. Suddenly the contents of a large 100 ft deep cave disappeared over a weekend.

Most of the civil war caches that are discovered are dug up on the sneak and a lot of it has been recovered. The govt would be smart to offer a percentage but they don’t. If they get wind of a recovery they swoop in and take it.

If it is in fact Rebel Gold than it is more than likely U.S. property. Alot of the buried rebel gold was gold that was stolen from the U.S government.
