You better not make peanut butter in a factory where they process peanuts. Kids are allergic. Can’t be too careful about these things. You know — “out of an abundance of caution.”

I will return my unopened jar tomorrow, but, I just dug an empty jar out of the trash and it’s part of the recall. Rut roe.

Commercial food manufacturers have standards for food safety to be complied with to reduce the chance of ill effects by contamination with foreign substances. Apparently, in this instance Salmonella bacteria were detected in a very few instances and attributed to some lots of peanut butter.

This has zip to do with Covid stuff. However, if the manufacturer's production remains closed for months over this, a conspiracy theory involving economic chaos could be fair game.

My opinions…

They are not offering refunds (wtf)
Some retailers are offering refunds with receipt.

We had 6 bottles from Amazon. Amazon refunded and told us to keep/trash them.

This seems like auto recalls were they issue the recall but never produce parts to repair the car.

The recalled peanut butter was distributed nationwide in retail stores and other outlets. Recalled products include the products below with lot codes 1274425 – 2140425. Lot codes are included alongside best-if-used-by date.

Yep. Unopened 16-ounce jar of the creamy with Lot No. 13460061 in my pantry. Into the trash it goes. (sigh…)

No ill effects?

Hmmm…maybe I’ll hold off throwing my unopened jar away. Maybe my grocery store will let me exchange it.

My girlfriend had two jars on the recall and got her money back at Walmart.
