Corrections officials said Saturday they are investigating the killing of an inmate attacked by four felons at a high-security facility in Folsom, marking the third slaying this week in a California state prison.
Camilo Banoslopez, 22, was killed Friday at Sacramento State Prison after the attack in a recreation yard.
The killing follows slayings Tuesday at Salinas Valley State Prison in Soledad and Thursday at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano. All three homicides involved homemade weapons.
Banoslopez was arrested as a juvenile and was serving eight years for robbery and inflicting great bodily injury during a gang attack, officials said.
He was attacked by Albert Calvillo, 30, Irvin Rodriguez, 36, Osbaldo Velasquez, 38, and Jose Avila, 39, officials said...

Not my field but I’ll venture an observation. The prisons have become so liberal I’m surprised that we even have them. in 1988 Governor Dukakis was running against George Bush and was leading by a large margin. Then it turns out that he’d authorized a program to let lifers out on weekends...no, really, and one of them, Willie Horton was using the opportunity to kill people. The reason they did this is if there’s no God, a core liberal belief, then there is no universal right or wrong. Therefore, who are we to keep people locked up for life? (What I never understood was, what about just keeping people safe? This, by the way is why liberal DA’s are not prosecuting criminals.)
So, there are people in prison to whom prison is a step up in the world. It’s their “life” so to speak. It’s a violent place and there’s really nothing that the system can do to punish them. So, when someone pisses them off or it’s required by the hierarchy to kill someone, they do it. That is why there is violence in prisons. Because the system allows it. Afterall, who are we to say...yadda, yadda?

Victim probably disagreed with the other convicts designating him as a her and suffered the consequences ... even the criminals in Ca are lawless and almost as bad as the Ca DOJ.
They might be cleaning house, but more likely, just normal Norteno/Sureno gang action. 60 some years of fighting, over a disrespect incident. Maybe many of them, probably don’t even know what they are fighting about anymore, but it’s been going on for many decades.
Many times, it’s the women on the outside, who get the news to the chumps in the other joints, so retaliation attacks, happen rather quickly

The deceased was sentenced in. 2015 for 8 years...2nd degree robbery, infliction of great bodily harm, and a gang enhanced charge of commiting a violent felony. Sentenced as a juvenile. He had one year to go...
