Don't Get Cocky, We Haven't Won Yet
PJ Media ^ | 5/6/2022 | Matt Margolis

Posted on 05/07/2022 10:10:39 AM PDT by Signalman

States nationwide are following Florida’s lead to protect parental rights in education. Hillary Clinton’s former campaign lawyer will soon be facing trial for lying to the FBI. Polls show Republicans are likely to make historic gains in the upcoming midterms and possibly retake both the House and Senate. And, maybe most importantly, the Supreme Court is on the verge of overturning Roe v. Wade.

Often with success comes arrogance. We assume that just because we’re winning now means that we’ll keep on winning. As you read this, the radical left is fighting harder than ever to limit free speech, target Donald Trump and his allies, indoctrinate our kids, and codify Roe v. Wade.

The fight is far from won. For example, last month, Joe Biden announced the Disinformation Governance Board—his own twist on the Orwellian Ministry of Truth, that will no doubt threaten free speech in this country under the guise of combating “disinformation.” The DGB is led by Nina Jankowicz, a woman who endorsed the bogus Steele dossier and dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation.

Meanwhile, the left is resorting to intimidation and scare tactics to save Roe v. Wade. They’re trying to convince Americans that Republicans are systematically stripping away the rights of the people.

Here at PJ Media, we’re fighting back hard against the radical left. We’ll report the stories the left doesn’t want the public to know about. We’ll call out the extremists who are trying to keep the radical left in power so they can strip away your rights as parents and silence debate. Will you join us in that fight?

And they’re going to have plenty of help pushing their lies. Facebook is still owned and operated by leftists, and Democrats have a virtual monopoly on the mainstream media.

I hate to agree but I do. It’s too deep with every base covered.

I think something will happen that will prevent elections in Nov.

I do not sense any satisfaction that traditional values are ascendent. Clearly they are not. We may win a skirmish here or there, sometimes maybe a major battle. The war, however, is long and hard and can only be won by vigilance and firm conviction. We must not waiver. We must grow stronger if we are to defeat an enemy that seeks the death of all we hold dear.

It’s important to celebrate victories while also not getting complacent.

I’ve given it serious thought don’t think I haven’t! I arrived at a different conclusion on how to proceed then you.

I just don’t take an all or nothing approach. We got into this mess incrementally and that’s how we will get out! To look for a candidate that’s 100% congruent with oneself is a fool’s errand. For example, the only candidate 100% congruent with me is me! I am not running, anywhere! So, I immediately have to start saying “Which one’s good enough!”. Keeping people like Zero & Hellary away from the levers of power far outweighs perfection in conservative ideology. We half failed on that one.

In 2016 I voted for Trump to keep Hellary out of power! I expected no more from Trump then I would from any New York Republican. I expected him to govern like the Rockefeller administration that never was. He wouldn’t advance the conservative ball much but at worse he would lose little to no ground. Why would I think anything different? His history was one of being sometimes a Republican and sometimes a Rat, perfect description of a New York Republican. Imagine my surprise when he governed better then Reagan. The New York Republican out-Reaganed Reagan!

The problem is the voters also love oversize, overbearing big government as long as it’s cheap (No tax increases!) & delivers the pork. They want something that basically can not be! They want a square circle! Don’t believe me? Start a discussion on Social Security. Try to tell people (Try to convince them!) what it actually is - a Ponzi Scheme! Discuss how to change it and evolve the government out of it. You will soon find this site full of “don’t-break-my-rice-bowl-socialists”. There are other topics (e.g., Article 5 convention!) that can evoke a similar response. And this site is far far to the right of the average voter!

The only rational way forward is incrementally and educate the voters with each step. Where possible throw the RINOs out of office but do it in the primary. If you fail at that don’t do the voting equivalent of “running-off-and-holding-your-breath-until-your-face-turns-blue” and let a leftist Rat win. Plot to get rid of the RINO the next time. The good news is most of them are old farts and Father Time will soon take care of them. Above all go out and help take control of your local GOP like Trump said to do!

”To look for a candidate that’s 100% congruent with oneself is a fool’s errand. For example, the only candidate 100% congruent with me is me!”

Nowhere did I say or suggest that I would only vote for someone who holds identical views to mine. There are far too many issues (and even future ones yet to be known) to insist on complete conformity. You’re talking about something that is, in actuality, an impossibility.

So I think you’re missing my point altogether. We all have passionate views about one particular issue or another (abortion, gun rights, crime, the economy, immigration, energy, etc.). What is the common denominator on practically every issue? Too much government involvement. I would argue that we are getting very close to socialism since there is almost nothing that government does not control, regulate, tax or otherwise influence. I don’t want to get one inch closer to socialism.

I’m willing to vote for people whose views vary from mine (to a degree – we all have limits to how much we’re willing to bend) but the one view that is central to all others is the underlying need to shrink government which, if you think deeply about it, has become a tool of the Left. They have literally weaponized every agency within it. It is the very source of their power. It is also something the Founders warned us about. I trust their wisdom.

Allowing government to continue to expand only serves to strengthen the Left and therefore makes our problems harder to solve. Weak candidates who will continue expanding government won’t have the resolve to bring us back in line with the Founders’ vision for this country. They tried to warn us, but we didn't listen.

We made two yards on a running play. 97 yards to go to celebrate any kind of a touchdown.

The Left goes for many little gains in many areas. That means we have to fight them everywhere.

So long as the voting computers are still in use and the Bureaucracy still exists with its legislative and judicial powers we have no durable victories.

Thank you Winston, if I may call you that.

Even though America won WWII, certainly Winston Churchill had more of the American spirit of love of and fight for liberty than did FDR.

Anyway, shout it from the rooftops.

God bless.

Exactly. I would argue that we’re a republic in name only now. What we really are is a kleptocracy.

As I said in a prior comment...the bigger government gets the smaller the people become. We have an obvious task ahead of us. We need to show the Founders that we are worthy of their great legacy and wisdom.
