This question at poll worker training came up — how do we know that what is scanned into the scanner and tallied, is what actually was on the ballot?

The elections and voter registration director for my county stated the mechanism to ensure the machines are properly calibrated. What goes into the scanner at the polls (voters fill in dots and self scan them into a machine) is accurately reflected on the data output on the 2 thumbdrives and printout tapes. Before the election, the county group has mock ballots printed out (filled in) and and these are scanned in, and this shows the results accurately. “Far better than hand counting, which is subject to human error.”

Any thoughts on this interaction?

How many ballots do they test? tricks can be played that don’t show up for a few hundred ballots or so.

Hand counting has no risks if multiple sets of eyes are on each ballot.

The machines can also be altered after the testing.

Any thoughts on this interaction?

We’ve been writing down the counts in the mornings on the voting machines and the scanners and then again at night so that those machines match the counts coming and going.

My problem is that the machines are left on over night and it seems to me that they can be tampered with because of internet connections?

Also, interesting is that Perdues suit was dismissed today because he was told he had no standing.

If the candidate has no standing and the voters have no standing in what was arguably election fraud, who DOES have standing?

I saw a video a while back produced by a couple of college students. They created a hack on the scanner device. The hack digitally cropped out the box with the check mark for both candidates and then switched them. This process took a few milliseconds and did not even slow down the feed of the ballot through the scanner. This functionality could be turned on or off at any time. All electronic voting processes are suspect, we need paper ballots and hand counting.
