I drove the “Mustang” Mach-E last summer and it cost me about $65 Canadian to charge it

You must be paying over a $1 per kilowatt up there. Here in GA it's 5.5 cents. Get outta there.

I would, but my grandkids are here.

Power rates are only part of it. The charging infrastructure companies don’t work for free, either.

Chargers can charge based on energy delivered, or time on charger. By the operating characteristics of the vehicles battery management, you can get taken to the cleaners on a time charger for energy delivered over ~80% as the vehicle slows the rate for battery life optimization over that.
