'Lost Puppy' Rescued by Massachusetts Family Turns Out to Be a Coyote Pup

Animal rescuers in Massachusetts said a family who rescued a "lost puppy" found on a busy road were shocked to learn the animal was actually a baby coyote.

The Cape Wildlife Center in Cape Cod said in a Facebook post that a family spotted the small canine wandering alone at the side of a busy road.

The family took the animal home when they "mistakenly identified him as a lost puppy," the post said.

Family members soon started to suspect the "puppy" was actually a wild animal and contacted the Cape Wildlife Center, which confirmed the canine was an Eastern coyote pup.

The wildlife center said the pup tested negative for rabies and will now be raised alongside another orphaned coyote pup until the animals are old enough to be safely released back into the wild.

I’d have kept it and kept my mouth shut. Just sayin.

It would have been just a few short weeks until it was dropping anvils and boulders on you as you went to work.

I guess it is better than the “Lost Cat” poster with a picture of a possum on it.

Eastern coyotes are wolf hybrids. Cute as puppies maybe but not something you want in your home as adults. I’ve seen them in the wild snd they are nearly the size of large German Shepards and not always afraid of humans.

Yah I think that he prefers three hots and a cot to scrambling to survive out in the wild.🤔

Call the critter "Draymond". They both like living on a plantation.

I learned to distrust everything I was told in Jr High when I read that a coyote can actually run at up to 43 miles per hour and a roadrunner can barely make 20!
