Brings to mind the beauty of Shelby Foote’s accent ... remember him? — one of the narrators on Ken Burns’ PBS “The Civil War.” Often spoken with that sly smile and good humor.
Also, I think Foote was the one who narrated the most sobering part in the series — Lee’s surrender to Grant.

that was a sad day for sure. Here in the south, Lee is still revered. We still honor our kin who fought in that war...and proudly wave our flag.
