5deg going to 21 today. Tomorrow Spring! 46deg and no more freezes
Same for us! SW corner of Wisconsin, Zone 5a. One more frigid night, then the temps take off like a rocket.
FINALLY! Daylight Savings is going to help my spirit a LOT this weekend! :)
Peppers are started inside. Tomatoes this weekend, inside. The unheated greenhouse has lettuces, kale & spinach planted, but just sitting due to this cold snap. They should perk right up next week. I have 6 buckets of Tulips and Daffs that I’m forcing early, so I’m waiting on those, too.
We’re a day behind but starting Monday, WHOO HOO!!!!
Soon as the snow is melted, it’s out in the garden to set up my potato and carrot containers set up and get them started.
My onions are up nicely and so is the cabbage and radicchio.
Today I plan on starting Romaine and peppers , and some flowers.
I want to try celery but could use some advice on growing that in this climate.
Low was 11 degrees here this morning.
We heat with wood only and so the temp can vary in this thin drafty place. I’m starting seeds right now and have a heat mat and another on the way and I also bought a temp controller since without it, they just add 10-20 degrees to the ambient. I have it set for 74 degrees but it’s not quite keeping up. The soil in the tray was 60 degrees this morning.
Good thing they’re hardy plants. I’m going to try putting a few layers of corrugated cardboard under the heat mat and maybe cardboard on three sides since it’s near a crappy window.
Hurray for Spring!!!!
