I wonder if this action is similar to something that could be undertaken by our own government?

The Emergencies act (Btw I don’t have time right now to watch video) but it is not legal unless (1) voted on by Parliament within one week, which is now over, and (2) an actual nationally dangerous situation is occuring, which it isn’t. So it is illegal according to Canadian law.
